We Are Nature

“I am a word spoken out of the heart of the Creator, spoken into the heart of all creation.” Sr Stan.

Those words opened our live gathering this week, and they stayed with us until the very end.

I find myself returning to them often, not because I fully understand them, but because they awaken something that feels deeply familiar.

Something remembered rather than learned.

For many of us, we speak about “getting back to nature” as though nature is somewhere outside ourselves—somewhere we visit when life becomes too busy or overwhelming.

But what if that isn’t the whole story?

What if we don’t go to nature because it is good for us?

What if we go because we are nature?

Sacred Pause

Sacred Pause – Coming Home to what has always been here

There are seasons in life when something quietly begins to fall out of rhythm.

Not necessarily a crisis.

Not always burnout.

Sometimes it is simply a subtle weariness.

We find ourselves living more in our heads than in our bodies. We move from one responsibility to another, answering emails, caring for others, solving problems, carrying the invisible weight of life. We may still be functioning well, but somewhere inside we know we have drifted away from ourselves.

Our culture usually offers one response: keep going.

Try harder.

Become more organised.

Push through.

Yet beneath all of that striving, something much wiser is often asking for something entirely different.

Pause.

Not because we have earned it.

Not because we have finished everything on our list.

But because pause belongs to the natural rhythm of life itself.

Presence - Coming Home

There are times when what we most need is not more information, more insight, or even more effort.

What we need is to come home.

Home to the body.

Home to the breath.

Home to the simple experience of being alive.

Living In The Current Of Love

There are seasons in life when everything feels like effort.

The list is too long.

Someone we love is suffering.

The world feels uncertain.

The news is heavy.

The Earth herself seems to be crying out through fires, floods, droughts and record temperatures.

Our attention narrows.

Our hearts tighten.

We begin to live inside our own small story.

I know those days well.

Yet lately I’ve been noticing something else.

Not a solution.

Not an escape.

Simply another possibility.

Sometimes, almost imperceptibly, I can shift my attention.

Not away from reality.

Not by pretending everything is fine.

But towards something else.

Towards love.

The Sacred Work Of Delight

There is a particular quality to midsummer that is easy to overlook.

The days are long. Gardens are flourishing. Birds begin their songs before dawn. Hedgerows are alive with colour and movement. The Earth seems to be expressing herself with a generosity that borders on extravagance.

And yet many of us move through this abundance without fully receiving it.

Maybe we do notice it,

We appreciate it.

But at least for myself I can say I we do not always allow myself to inhabit it.

In this week’s Sacred Circle live session gathering we explored the theme of delight—not as something we need to create, but as something that is already present, quietly waiting to be noticed.

For many of us, especially those who spend our lives caring for others, delight can feel almost frivolous. We learn to be useful. Responsible. Productive. We become the dependable one. The helper. The organiser.

Over time, we can begin to believe that joy must be earned.

That delight is a reward for completing our work.

That rest, creativity, pleasure and play belong somewhere further down the list.

Summer offers a different teaching.

The flowers do not bloom because they have been productive enough.

The blackbird does not sing because it has earned permission.

The river does not sparkle because it has completed its tasks.

Life itself seems to overflow.

Not from obligation.

But from abundance.
