Journey Description
The solstices mark two great turning points in the year: the longest day and the longest night.
At the Summer Solstice, light reaches its fullest expression and begins its gradual return toward darkness. At the Winter Solstice, darkness reaches its deepest point, and the light begins again.
The Turning of the Light brings these two moments together in a pair of extended musical journeys. Together, they invite reflection on the rhythms of nature, the movement between outwardness and inwardness, and the quiet truth that even at the furthest point in one direction, the turning has already begun.
A contemplative journey through light, darkness, stillness, renewal, and the ancient seasonal cycle that holds them all.
Journey Tracks
Summer Solstice
A celebration of the way we once measured time: by the turning of the light.
At the Summer Solstice, the sun reaches its fullest expression. For a moment, the year seems to stand still before beginning its long return toward darkness.
This music invites us to step back into an older rhythm, when the movement of the sun shaped our sense of time, ceremony, and renewal. To the breaking of new dawns. To moments bright with fire, to chanting songs, to dancing among the trees.
And even here, at the height of light, the turning has already begun
Winter Solstice
A return to the deep stillness of the year.
At the Winter Solstice, darkness reaches its greatest extent. The night is longest, the world seems to draw inward, and for a moment, everything rests at the edge of silence.
This music invites us into that inward turning — toward stillness, reflection, mystery, and renewal. Toward the ancient awareness that darkness is not an ending, but a place of waiting, gathering, and becoming.
And even here, at the depth of darkness, the light has already begun to return.
