Journey Description

Threshold Verses draws from a collection of poetry spanning several decades. Some of it arrived as stream of consciousness. Some of it showed up on the page before I was aware I was writing it, then got erased and traced again a few times over. It moves through three thresholds — declaration, grief, and waking — and touches loss, Ireland, ancestry, and the question I keep asking in rooms that would rather I didn't. Form or free never mattered to me. What matters is that it finds you in its own time.

Remember, poets are playdates for the brokenhearted.

Irish Drum

A dialogue between a feather and a drum, weighing the risk of flying too far to still hear the beat that anchors it. Underneath that image, it's asking how to return to something softer and earlier — a time before the shame set in — and whether intimacy, forgiveness, and love can hold enough space for that return.

The Temperance of Ramses

"Temperance of Ramses" is an address to a self caught striving for perfection and reaching for the bottle to blunt it, urging that self to put both down and see with the heart instead of performing what it's told to be.

A Figment of Pontifex

Move through the wreckage of empire — volcanic stone, fallen trinities, a Rubicon running red — to find one man's private reckoning with shame handed down like a paternal placebo, phantoms still parading long after the parade has ended. Every crumbling structure and haunted hill gets stripped away until what's left standing is the plainest claim in the whole collection: I was good all along, the waters were pure all along.

The Marginalia of Loss

"Marginalia of Loss" treats grief as an unavoidable spill — the ocean surging over the sea wall like an octopus-teacher handing out "Pandora's syllabus," lessons you didn't choose and can't skip.

The Drum & Feather

What if the crow's feather warning that flying too high in pursuit of achievement means losing the sound of its own heartbeat and falling? It ends not in defeat but in return: the feather can come down and come to life again on the goat's skin.

Scriptscrapers

"Scriptscrapers" makes a case for writing straight from the liminal — words caught before the mind's "so called scribes and scriptscrapers" can contaminate them with expectation. It asks what it means to have arrived at a place where rest itself counts as revolutionary, and answers by trusting movement over destination: happiness found in the writing itself, the self rediscovered...

A song for the rebels...an epilogue of sorts.
